About Subtract Music

Subtract Music started as a record label. These days it’s better described as a long‑running sound experiment led by Anton Tumas—part Hi-Fi playground, part community magnet, part excuse to build ridiculous systems and share them with friends.

Since 2011, Subtract has been a home for music and events that age well: deep, hypnotic records instead of trend bait; daylight pier parties and beach gatherings where people actually connect; and sound systems tuned to perfection. Subtract On The Pier is now in its eleventh season on the Long Beach waterfront, and Love Long Beach Festival brings more than 10,000 people together each year around music and art.

In the studio, it has taken a “subtract the hype” approach to its catalog: a slow, intentional stream of releases from artists like DAVÍ, Pezzner, Robert Babicz, and Vinayak A, plus remixes from names such as John Digweed, Hernán Cattáneo, Guy J, Matthew Dekay, and Stimming. The through‑line isn’t genre—it’s emotional impact, authenticity, and attention to detail.

Underneath it all is a simple ethos Anton lives by in and out of music: keep removing anything fake, noisy, or forced until only the essence remains. Fewer but deeper records. Fewer but better parties. Fewer but more authentic connections. If you’re drawn to clean, powerful sound, no‑nonsense production, and a space to laugh hard and be yourself, Subtract was built for you.
